The National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS) is a public scientific and technological organization, operating under the autority of France’s Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation. With 32,000 staff, including almost 24,500 permanent employees and a budget of 3.4 billion euros, CNRS is the largest public research organization in Europe. It is structured around 1,100 research units located throughout France and abroad - 95% of them are joint ventures with universities and other French research organizations. 18 Regional Offices manage these laboratories locally and liaise with local authorities and other academic partners.
